I hate the phrase “First World problem.”
The only real “First World problem” is being associated with people who actually say “First World problems.” There’s literally no faster way to prove that you’ve never been anywhere near a “developing” country (or Googled one) than to describe heavy traffic or not having cellphone service as a “First World problem.”
This is Kampala, which is the capital of Uganda.
And this is Khartoum in the Republic of Sudan.
And this is Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
And here’s Nairobi, Kenya:
And these are all “Third World” places where millions and millions of people live and work and bitch about their cell phone service and traffic and taxes and the availability of unsecured wifi networks because it’s fucking 2012. And when you bust out that “First World” bullshit, you make us all look like ignorant douche-bags reveling in our pseudo-privileged mediocrity. Stahp it.
