“We discovered that bumblebees can use a combination of colour and spatial relationships in deciding which colour of flower to forage from. We also discovered that science is cool and fun because you get to do stuff that no one has ever done before.”

Medieval England Richer Than Many Countries Today

Per capita income in medieval England would have been about $1,000 if measured in 1990 U.S. dollars — substantially higher than in many poor countries today, according to research led by University of Warwick economist Stephen Broadberry. By the same measure, per capita income in Zaire, Burundi, and Niger is currently $249, $479, and $514, respectively.

Master of Play: Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's man behind Mario → newyorker.com

Shigeru Miyamoto has always tried to re-create his childhood wonderment. He’s the closest thing there is to an autobiographical game creator, and shuns focus groups: “As long as I can enjoy something, other people can enjoy it, too.”

Michael Moore Doubles Down on Rape Apologia → shakespearessister.blogspot.com

In case you missed it, Michael Moore is failing all over the place with the rape allegations against Julian Assange. #mooreandme

Dec 15, 2010
“For those of you who think it’s wrong to support Julian Assange because of the sexual assault allegations he’s being held for, all I ask is that you not be naive about how the government works when it decides to go after its prey. Please — never, ever believe the “official story.” And regardless of Assange’s guilt or innocence (see the strange nature of the allegations here), this man has the right to have bail posted and to defend himself.” —Michael Moore, showing quite a bit of FAIL #mooreandme
